Bengaluru:The BJP central election committee failed to finalize the candidates’ list for the 28 Lok Sabha seats of the state on Tuesday. Even though the meeting continued till 1.30 am, the party national and state leaders failed to arrive at any consensus.
According to the sources, the BJP is likely to release the candidates’ list on Wednesday noon.
A senior BJP leader told Newskarnataka.com that there is no consensus on four seats including Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, Ballari, Uttara Kannada, and Kolar, while candidates for all the remaining seats have been finalised.
“BJP State Chief BS Yeddyurappa is proposing the name of Shobha Karandlaje for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, but many are opposing the same. Confusion perisists about Ballari too, due to interference by Ramesh Jarakiholi and B Nagendra. While sub-caste problem hit the finalization of the candidate for Kolar, Amith Shah himself is opposing Anant Kumar Hegde’s candidature for Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency,” he explained.
“A final decision is expected today,” he said.
