Bengaluru: The officials are busy distributing the Election Identity cards seized from SLV Park View apartment in Jalahalli, back to the voters. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) however, is not satisfied by this and has alleged continued illegality in the constituency.

The party has demanded that the Election Commission take stringent action against the culprits and the Jalahalli unit workers of the party have submitted a memorandum regarding the same to CEO Sanjiv Kumar.

“Along with the voter’s Ids in the flat, thousands of IDs were burnt down and many were thrown into the drains. Police don’t collect any information on such cards”, alleged the BJP workers.

Following a tip-off, police raided Flat No.115 of the SLV Park View apartment on May 8 and seized 9,746 voters Ids. Based on the complaint given by the Election Commission officials, the police filed an FIR against 14 people including former MLA Munirathna. However, the former MLA was released on bail. The complainant alleged that the police stopped the investigation after that incident. They also alleged that officials were now making the residents give a statement that their voter ID was missing so that the cards were “returned.”

Meanwhile, an EC official said, “The elections will be conducted in R R Nagar on May 28, and all voters should cast their votes. So, we are returning the EPIC cards with the help of their address. If there is any doubt with regard to the address, those cards will be retained”, and added that the police would continue the investigation on those who collected the cards in the flat.
