Bengaluru: The Bangalore International Airport Authority (BIAL) increased the User Development Fee (UDF) at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) by a whopping 122%. The new UDF will come into effect from Tuesday and continue till August 15.

According to the revised structure, the UDF for the domestic departures increased from Rs. 139 to Rs. 306 while UDF for the international departures increased from Rs. 558 to Rs.1,226.

Meanwhile, the users expressed their displeasure over the BIAL’s decision. They urged the state government to intervene. Venkatanarayanan Nambeeshan, a frequent flier alleged that the BIAL is taking the passengers for a ride by collecting a huge UDF. “When the central government is trying to make the air travel more affordable, the BIAL is moving in the opposite direction,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, the BIAL authorities informed that from August 16, the UDF will return to pre-April 16 fares.
