Bengaluru: In a first of such a crackdown, the BESCOM issued notices to 14,000 house owners who have built their houses near the high tension lines. The notices are issued following the increasing number of accidents involving the electric lines.
BESCOM Managing Director C Shikha informed that since last one week, the BESCOM has taken up the matter on a priority basis and is issuing notices. “Till now over 14,000 house owners are given notices,” she said.
“All are given 15 days time to take corrective action,” she added.
“The decision to issue notices has been taken due to the number of deaths increasing day by day,” informed a BESCOM officer.
According to S Selvakumar, MD, KPTCL, BBMP help will be sought to remove the constructions under the electric lines.
