Bengaluru: With 58 mm rainfall in a single day, precisely in three hours between 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm, the state capital received the highest rainfall in last one decade in the month of February, on Saturday.
The rain which was the result of a few local factors started around 5.30 pm and continued till late evening.
Heavy rainfall was reported from Basavanagudi, Koramangala, and other areas in South Bengaluru. The rain was also reported from Ramanagara, Chamarajanagar and parts of Mandya district. Bandipur Tiger Reserve too received heavy rainfall.
According to the BBMP sources, at least eight cases of tree uprooting have been reported on Saturday. A high-end car and four bikes were damaged in the tree uprooting on the museum road.
In a major embarrassment to the BMRCL authorities, following the rain, the leakage was reported from several parts of Indiranagar metro station.
