Bengaluru: An investigation has been launched into the incident where ASHA workers were attacked in the Sadiq area of the city. City Commissioner of Police Bhaskar Rao made an announcement in this regard on Thursday, April 2.

The Commissioner informed that Pulikeshi Nagar ACP, Tabarak Fathima has been appointed to investigate the incident.

“A case will be registered and action will be taken. The police will protect the ASHA workers so they can carry out their duties,” he told ANI.

It can be recalled that ASHA workers and health officials have come under attack in several places across the country, including Dakshina Kannada’s Bantwal taluk, as they have been spreading awareness about coronavirus and collecting information about suspected COVID-19 cases.

Government and police officials have assured that necessary action will be taken against the attackers and that further such incidents will not be tolerated.
