Bengaluru: Now that the BJP has swept the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka, the citizens of Bengaluru hope to get a full-fledged suburban rail network in the city.
A section of the active citizenry in Bengaluru has already started campaigning for PC Mohan, MP from Bengaluru central to be appointed as Railway Minister of India.
The citizens of the area were pushing for a full-fledged suburban rail network to save them from the traffic woes of the city.
PC Mohan was one of the few politicians of the city who spoke in favour of the suburban rail project in Bengaluru.
The project is now facing a new hurdle from the PMO as they suggested breaking up of the project into smaller projects in a public-private partnership. There were also objections regarding the number of railway stations in the city, some of which were in the same place as the Metro Rail stations.
The citizen’s groups, annoyed by the decision of the central government had submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Railway Manager requesting to rework the project so that the city dwellers get a sustainable, cost effective and future proof solution to their traffic woes.
