Bengaluru Beats Pune In Number Of Covid Cases

Bengaluru: Bengaluru has beaten Pune to become India’s Covid capital, with more than 9.5 lakh infections as of May 10, the highest in the country.

Around 20,000 more cases were reported in Bengaluru than in Pune. In comparison, Bengaluru had 86,500 fewer cases on April 30 than Pune, but more than a lakh on March 31, suggesting a rapid increase in cases over the previous 40 days.

Since April 1, Bengaluru Urban district has added more than 5.1 lakh cases, with 1.9 lakh new infections recorded in the first ten days of this month. In the state of Maharashtra, the city of Pune saw an increase of 3.9 lakh cases.
