Bengaluru: Ever since the lockdown was imposed on March 24 midnight, many activists have raised concerns over the fact that stray animals will be the worst-hit during this period as they rely on people to feed them and on leftovers from hotels.
Talking along the same lines, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on Friday, April 10, called upon all the people of the state to feed the stray animals.
Sharing a picture of himself standing next to a cat drinking milk from a bowl, BSY tweeted in Kannada that the scorching heat and the knockdown have left stray animals and birds in a lurch.
“Please be kind and take some time off to feed stray animals and birds around your homes. Try providing them with water and leftovers so they’re not parched and left hungry,” he wrote in English in another tweet with the hashtag ‘feedthehungers’.

The government has also started “Dasoha”- a helpline 155214 to provide food for labourers affected by the lockdown.
