Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, on Wednesday, said that he will try his level best to ensure that corruption is rooted out of the BBMP, Bengaluru’s local civic body. Newly elected Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Mayor Gautham Kumar Jain and Deputy Mayor Rammohan Raju met the CM on Wednesday, October 2 morning.

Speaking during the occasion, the CM said that the ones who demand bribe will be punished and more funds will be provided to the civic body to ensure all-round development in the city efficiently. Revenue Minister and BJP’s trouble-shooter R Ashok was present.

The meeting comes close on the heels of the reports that BSY and R Ashok were upset with the very selection of Gautham as the BJP’s mayoral candidate. It is said that Gautham Jain, a non-Kannadiga was selected as the candidate by BL Santhosh, BJP’s national organizing secretary. The talks of the CM being sidelined by the national leadership is making rounds ever since BL Santhosh’s man and Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel was appointed as the State BJP Chief in a rather unexpected announcement.

The elections for the post of the Mayor and the deputy was held on Tuesday, October 1.
