BBMP withdraws mandatory mask inside car rule

Bengaluru: The BBMP has withdrawn the mandatory masks inside the car even when a single person is inside the vehicle after public outburst.

Health minister Dr D Sudhakar made an announcement in this regard.

However compulsory masks for bike riders will continue.

The BBMP made amendment to its earlier decision after intervention by health minister Sudhakar.

Earlier, BBMP officials had made it clear that wearing mask is compulsory even when the rider or driver is plying alone in the vehicle. This had led to public disagreeing with the rule.

Many used social media to take on the BBMP. In response, BBMP sought health department’s suggestion in this regard.

The BBMPhas now withdrawn the rule for car users. It has also withdrawn minimum target fixed for 198 marshals on collecting fine from the mask and social distancing rule breakers.
