Bengaluru: Water flowing from the Hulimavu lake has finally been stopped as the BBMP was able to construct a protection wall at the areas where the lake was found breaching.
According to the locals, dirty water from the lake entered into over 800 houses and over 300 vehicles were damaged due to the same.
According to the BBMP authorities, the water flowing out of the lake was stopped around 10 pm on Sunday after a protection wall was constructed around the lake breach area. As many as 10 JCBs were used for the construction which was supervised by the experts from the NDRF and the BBMP.
Affected areas include Vaishya bank colony, Krishna layout, Shanti niketana layout, Avani Shringeri nagara, Saraswathipura, Vijayabank layout, etc.
Relief centers: The BBMP has also set up relief centers in Meenakshi choultry, Sayibaba Ashrama, and other local choultries for the residents of the houses that were damaged after the lake water entered into their residences.
BBMP Mayor Gautham Kumar Jain and commissioner BH Anil Kumar coordinated the rescue and relief works. BBMP sources informed that an inquiry will be carried out to find out the reason for the lake breach as there was no rain in the area.
