Bengaluru: The decks have been cleared for the BBMP mayor and deputy mayor election.
Bengaluru Regional Commissioner Harsha Gupta fixed September 27 as the voting day for the mayor-deputy mayor posts. Gupta informed that term of the incumbent mayor and deputy mayor is ending on September 28.
In the last four years, the Congress-JDS alliance was in power and this is the last term of the mayor and deputy mayor for the BBMP under the Congress-JDS alliance. With many of the Congress-JDS MLAs from the city switching sides, now the BJP is likely to win both the posts easily, say sources.
