Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Saturday launched a ‘Clean Bengaluru’ campaign.
Nearly 1,000 km of roads in all eight zones will be the focus of the campaign launched by Bengaluru Development minister K.J. George on Saturday. Involving various citizens’ groups and corporates, it will see selected roads being cleared of solid waste, e-waste, construction debris and silt. Footpaths and shoulder drains will also be cleared.
As many as 324 roads have been identified, with a majority in the East zone (73). Sixty-two roads have been identified in the West zone, 59 in South, 49 in Bommanahalli, 30 in Dasarahalli, 29 in Mahadevapura, 15 in Yelahanka and 7 in Rajarajeshwarinagar zones.
A public notice urging citizens to cooperate in the campaign that will go on till March 3, 2018, has been issued by BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad.
A mobile application has also been developed and is available on Google Play Store.
