Bengaluru: V Elumalai, an independent corporator from the Sagayapuram ward of the city, died due to multi-organ failure at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday morning. He was 40-years-old.
About 28 days ago, Elumalai was admitted to a private hospital for a minor nosebleed operation. Following the procedure, he developed some complications and was rushed to a corporate hospital for treatment, where he underwent treatment for over 26 days.
On Thursday morning, doctors announced his death citing multi-organ failure as the reason.
Police security has been enhanced across the ward fearing a violent response from his supporters. The private hospital where he underwent the minor procedure has been shut down for a day, fearing an attack from the corporator’s supporters, said police.
Elumalai’s final rites will be held on Thursday evening.
