Bengaluru: It was a special event at the Bommanahalli BBMP zonal office. As many as 15 children of the Pourakarmikas were given laptops worth of Rs. 41,800 each by the BBMP authorities under the student welfare scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, BBMP joint director Veerabhadra Swamy informed that the children of the pourakamikas must utilise these programmes for the empowerment and pursue higher education. “We wish the students will utilise them properly and achieve greater heights in coming days,” he said.
“A total of 195 children of pourakarmikas, 190 children of Group D employees of the BBMP from the SC/ ST communities and 40 physically disabled children will be distributed laptops. The BBMP has schemes like financial support for higher education for the children of pourak0armikas etc. All must utilise it and get empowered,” he said.
