Bengaluru: After the cancellation of Tipu Jayanti and a proposal to drop Tipu lessons from the textbooks, now the proposal to name a road after Tipu in the city has also been dropped in the city.

BBMP mayor Gautham Jain informed that the BBMP has dropped the proposal of naming the road connecting the Kalasipalya-Mysore road as Tipu road. Instead, its name will continue as the Alur Venkatarao road.

The BBMP had proposed renaming of this road in January 2019 when Padmavathi of Congress was the mayor.

Meanwhile, the BBMP decided to name Jumma Masjid road on ward number 109 as the Devara Dasimaiah road. Locals opposed this move saying the road was popular as the Jumma Masjid road.
