BBMP corporator’s husband arrested for spreading fake news on Covid 19

Bengaluru: The Yelahanka police arrested husband of a BBMP corporator on charges of spreading  fake news on COVID-19.

The arrested individual is Amarnath, husband of Chowdeshwari ward (ward no 2) member Padmavathi.

All started when hundreds of families in Kondappa layout in the ward started preparations to migrate from the area.

When police approached them, they informed that Amarnath shared a news informing that COVID-19 positive person has been ifentified in the area.

Based on the instructions of the senior officials, police arrested Amarnath.

This is the first arrest in the city for spreading rumours on COVID-19.

Police warned stringent action against all those indulge in spreading false news related to the COVID-19.
