Bengaluru: The Aero India 2019 that has begun in the ‘Silicon City’, has invited criticisms by some of the snake experts, here on Wednesday, February 20.
According to the snake experts in and around the city, everytime there is Aero India show in the city, the cobras that live underground, avoiding the harsh weather conditions outside, are forced to come out of the pits, as the land around Yelahanka air base tremors when the fighter jets take off.
The area surrounding the venue is believed to have cobra species in high numbers.
According to the nearby residents, around 20-25 cobras come out of their pit due to the tremor and the panic-stricken residents go ahead and kill them resulting in a high number of death toll during the air show.
This time around, the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) along with snake experts have taken an initiative to capture the reptiles and then release them in a protected environment.
The snake experts who are deployed to handle the task have made announcements and personal requests with the nearby residents not to harm cobras and instead share information on finding them.
