Bengaluru: Voices of dissent were heard in the BJP camp soon after the declaration of B N Prahlad as the candidate for Jayanagara Assembly election, claimed media reports.
According to the sources, local BJP leaders are unhappy that ticket was given to a person who had neither worked for the party nor had any connection with the people in the region. Allegedly, they have also threatened mass resignation to the party.
The Election Commission had postponed the election of the Jayanagara constituency because of the death of BJP candidate and MLA Vijay Kumar. The decision of party leaders to give the ticket to Vijay Kumar’s brother B N Prahlad Babu is opposed by many in the party.
Pattabhirama Nagara ward former corporator C K Ramamurthy, Bhairasandra ward corporator Nagaraj, former mayor S K Nataraj are also in the list of BJP ticket aspirants from Jayanagar.
Congress candidate and former minister Ramalinga Reddy’s daughter Sowmya Reddy and social activist Ravikrishna (as an independent) are contesting for the Jayanagar seat. Voting will be held on June 11 and counting will be on June 13.
