Bengaluru: An article by a journalist against a progressive Lingayat Seer has now led to a massive controversy in Bengaluru.

The author of the article has claimed that he is receiving threat calls and hate messages following the write-up.

While the reporter wrote about the threat of Facebook and Twitter wall of the Bengaluru Police, interestingly, the Bengaluru Police too replied to his complaint via social media itself.

All started with Chiru Bhat, a columnist working with Vishwavani writing an article on the alleged anti-Hindu stand of Nijagunananda Swamy, a progressive pontiff of Nishkal Math, Bailur of Bailhongal taluk in Belagavi, who is known for his verbal attack on blind beliefs in Indian society. As expected, many followers of the Seer were raged putting Bhat at the receiving end.

Interestingly, columnist instead of lodging writing complaint with the jurisdictional police station lodged a complaint about the issue on the Facebook/ Twitter wall of the Bengaluru City Police. He posted that “Dear BENGALURU CITY POLICE, I am getting n number of threatening calls just for writing an article in Vishwavani on Nijagunananda Swamiji.

Am I not having the right to live in this Democratic country?”.

Immediately police too replied stating “Please lodge a written complaint at your Jurisdictional Police Station with details. They will take necessary action in this regard.”
