Bengaluru: Former MLA, Anita Kumaraswamy, wife of Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy announced that she will be the party candidate from Ramanagara assembly by-election.

A by-election to the Ramanagara assembly constituency is necessitated following the resignation of HD Kumaraswamy to the MLA post as he was elected from two constituencies in the state assembly election April/ May 2018. He retained Channapatna.

Addressing a party convention in the city, she announced that party leaders and activists requested her to contest. “I don’t care about opposition candidate. I am sure of an easy win,” she said.

In Ramanagara, the Congress is not fielding its candidate. The BJP is likely to field a Lingayat candidate.
