Bengaluru: Amid Covid-19 crisis, the rebel activities have intensified in the BJP.

On Thursday late night, former minister Umesh Katti, Basanagauda Patil Yatnal and Raju Gowda held a dinner meeting with several BJP MLAs from the north Karnataka region demanding immediate cabinet expansion.

Another demand the group has kept is the resignation of CM BS Yediyurappa, alleging that the government is now being run by a proxy team.

According to the sources, it is the sixth such meeting amid Covid-19 crisis held by these leaders and MLAs.

As the news spread, the CM reportedly called up former minister Murugesh Nirani and warned him of stern action if he fuels anti-party activities, on Friday early morning.

It is said that Katti wants a ministerial berth for himself and Rajya Sabha MP seat for his brother Ramesh Katti, but Yediyurappa is not willing to pay heed to these demands.

Meanwhile, if sources are to be believed, CM BS Yediyurappa is planning cabinet expansion by mid June.

Umesh Katti, Aravind Limbavali, SA Ramadas and Haladi Shrinivasa Shetty are likely to make it into the state cabinet under various quota.
