Bengaluru: Amid the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, the transfer season has started in the state. After several changes among IAS officials, now the state government has started transfers in the police department.

On Friday night, the state government transferred 25 DySps and 24 inspectors in one go. Most of these transfers have been made in the urban limits and has raised some eyebrows.

One of the notable transfers is that of Venkatesh Prasanna, a DySp who allegedly had links with Ravi Poojari, an underworld don who was deported to Karnataka recently from Senegal. He has been moved to the intelligence wing from the VVIP security division.

“The police are playing a key role in the Covid-19 containment efforts. In such a scenario, transfers are not required. But politicians are not too worried,” explained departmental sources.
