Bengaluru: A group of investors in Ambidant Marketing Private Limited have approached the Karnataka High Court seeking CBI probe into the ponzi scam.
After hearing the petition filed by the investors, Justice B Veerappa issued a notice to the state government, Udaygiri police, Mysuru, and the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Ambidant company, under the ‘Bhandhan Plan’, had assured an income of Rs 9,000 to 10,000 every week for every Rs 1 Lakh invested. Convinced by the plan, some had invested money in the scheme.
The company suddenly shut down after collecting a huge amount, following which the investors approached the Udaygiri police to file a complaint. But the police had refused to entertain the complaint.
The petitioners then filed a private complaint in the Mysore JMFC court. The court directed Udaygiri police to investigate the matter and submit a report, following which, the police registered an FIR.
Convinced that the company and its directors are politically influential, the petitioners approached the high court stating that the police will not be able to investigate the matter.
The petitioners also claimed that Ambidant company had violated the guidelines of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), by not obtaining permission from the authorities to obtain deposits directly from the public.
The petitioners have sought for directions to freeze the bank accounts of the company and also to seize the passport and visas of its directors.
