Bengaluru: Additional Commissioner (CCB) Alok Kumar has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Bengaluru city. He is replacing T Suneel Kumar.
Alok Kumar, who was in the eye of the storm a few years ago and kept under suspension as a result, was brought back to the city to control the matka mafia after H D Kumaraswamy became the Chief Minister.
He has been credited with launching several raids on the influential matka mafia and arresting dozens of high profile gamblers and it looks like he has been rewarded for his daredevil nature.
He was also recently promoted to the DIG rank, making him eligible for the city police commissioner’s post.
