Bengaluru: Amid rumours that three to four MPs could be dropped from the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections, the party high command has reportedly decided to field all 16 incumbent MPs in Karnataka.
It was earlier reported that Shobha Karandlaje (Udupi-Chikmagalur), Suresh Angadi (Belgaum), Anantkumar Hegde (Uttara Kannada) and Karadi Sanganna (Koppal) will not be contesting the polls. However, the BJP Parliamentary Committee has extend tickets to all the incumbents.
There has been dissent between two factions within the state BJP, one led by B L Santosh and another by party president B S Yeddyurappa.
The four candidates who were rumoured to be not contesting the polls have been identified with Yeddyurappa’s faction and he has personally assured the party high command that it would entirely be his responsibility to ensure the victory of the candidates.
