Bengaluru: In a big embarrassment to former minister, turncoat leader AH Vishwanath, Urban development minister Byrati Basavaraj, who too was one of the turncoat MLAs has said that Vishwanath should blame himself for his political setback.
It may be recalled that Vishwanath quit the JDS and joined BJP along with other 15 MLAs, thereby helping the BJP to come to power, toppling the Congress-JDS coalition government.
While most of the turncoats won the by-elections, Vishwanath tasted defeat.
Speaking to reporters in Kalaburugi, Byrati Basavaraj stated that Vishwanath was advised against contesting the by-election. “He was given assurance that he will be made an MLC and inducted in to cabinet. He didn’t listen. It created problems for him,” he said.
He also made it clear that it will be CM’s decision to whether all the turncoats shall be made ministers or not. “The CM will decide on these issues,” he said.
