Bengaluru: Merely a day after Karnataka DCM Govind Karjol left eyebrows raised with his statement that good roads are the reason behind accidents, the same theory seems to have appealed former CM of Karnataka and Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, who on Thursday said that youngsters tend to use accelerator more on good roads!
Gowda, who is the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers told India Today TV that if the roads are good then youngsters will drive at high speeds on them, leading to mishaps.
On Wednesday, Karnataka Deputy CM Govind Karjol had insisted that it wasn’t bad roads but actually the good ones that led to accidents.
The Union government, through the amendments in the new Motor Vehicles Act, increased the fine amounts for traffic violations. The same has left the road users fuming. The Bengaluru Traffic Police went on an overdrive and collected Rs 72.49 lakh in traffic fines between September 4 and September 9.
