Bengaluru: A Muslim youth in his early 20’s was mercilessly stabbed by three individuals in Rajendra Nagar while he was on his way home after offering prayers at the local mosque on late on May 19. The victim succumbed to his injuries after locals rushed him to a nearby hospital.
The locals grew tense and staged a minor protest at the crime scene on Sunday afternoon and accused the police of not doing enough to control the anti-social elements in the locality. Additional forces were deployed to prevent further deterioration of events.
A resident claimed that the police did not patrol the locality and enumerated incidents where youth would consume alcohol openly and harass the locals.
The police have nabbed the three suspected of having perpetrated the crime on Sunday evening. According to the police, the victim, Javed Fayaz knew his attackers as they were from the same locality. Javed was a resident on LR Nagar.
The police said that an argument over a small issue between Javed and his assailants turned violent as they began to abuse each other verbally and ended with Javed being stabbed with a knife. The police believe that the incident occurred at around 10 pm on Saturday.
According to the police, Javed was on his way home when the three called out to him. When he did not heed to their beckoning, they stopped Javed in his tracks and began taunting him and an argument soon ensued.
After Javed was stabbed, the locals notified the police and emergency services, who rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Adugodi police have registered a case.
