Bengaluru: The state government cancelled the appointment of actress Tara, an MLC as the chairperson for the Karnataka Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
Tara confirmed the cancellation and stated that order was issued due to a few confusion. “I hope the CM will reward my service with some other position,” she said.
According to the sources, the duration of the chairman of the KCPCR, which is an autonomous organisation is three years. Incumbent chairman Anthony Sebastian is yet to complete three years. So the department of Women and Child Welfare decided to cancel Tara’s appointment.
“Certain procedures need to be followed while selecting the new chairman. Here it was not followed. To ensure that all these will not become a new controversy, the appointment has been cancelled,’ added sources in the state women and child department.
