Bengaluru: A day after the then Commissioner for Survey, Settlement and Land Records Munish Moudgil’s letter against former Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner and his associates was made public, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has decided to investigate the allegations. The ACB authorities have sought the Government of Karnataka’s (GoK) permission for the same.
ACB IGM M Chandrasekar has confirmed that a letter has been written to the government seeking permission to launch an investigation into the matter.
It all started with Mudgil, who was transferred to the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Mysuru on Wednesday, alleging that the then DC of Bengaluru Urban V Shankar allegedly caused a loss of over Rs 400 crores to the state government by helping a person gain ownership of 19.01 acres of land in Anekal’s Jigani. He had lodged a case with the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in this regard.
The letter sent shockwaves across the state as a senior-most officer was named in the letter.
