Bengaluru: A man who had slipped into depression after his wife abandoned him has been sent to judicial custody for making a hoax bomb call to the police in Bengaluru.
The city is on high alert after Colombo blasts and around this time, a man identified as V Sunil Kumar (32), a resident of Nagarabhavi, a car driver by profession called up the police and said that a few women strapped with bombs are all set to blast Annapoorneshwari temple at Annapoorneshwari Nagar, in the city, on Saturday.
He was under the influence of alcohol when he made this call, it is said. Since he mentioned that the blasts will be carried out at Annapoorneshwari temple of the Annapoorneshwari Nagar, the jurisdictional police rushed to the spot with the dog squad but found out that the information was fake.
When they launched an investigation about the caller, they found that Sunil Kumar had called them. At the time of the inquiry, his father informed the police that he developed hatred for women after his wife left him and was also battling depression.
Police arrested him and sent him to the judicial custody.
