Bengaluru: As many as 70 police personnel of various rankings, who were transferred after the coalition government came to power in the state, are yet to report to their new posts. Instead, they are absent from duty.
According to sources in the state police, these officers are either trying to cancel their transfer or trying to get a post in the place of their choice. “Most of these officers and personnel who are absent from duty are either those who have been transferred from executive posts to non-executive posts or moved out of Bengaluru city. The DG-IGP issued two letters to the department warning of strict action against them. Still, they continue to be absent from duty,” informed officers.
Introduce counselling system
A senior officer informed that even after a number of warnings were issued by the Supreme Court, police transfers are being done through political patronage. “There is a need of introducing a counselling system,” he said.
