Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has decided to start LKG class in all the 276 Karnataka Public Schools (KPS). A decision in this regard has been approved by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who is also the in-charge primary and secondary education minister.
According to the sources, this year, the KPS, the model schools launched by the state government in 276 hobli centers with classes
between Std I and XII, will have LKG. UKG will be introduced from the next year. The department decided to appoint the guest teachers for these LKG classes.
According to the authorities the idea is to ensure that the parents do not knock the doors of the private schools for the LKG and UKG classes and to ensure that the government schools have good intake.
