Bengaluru: The state government has withdrawn the protection of 27 former state ministers. The security personnel, who were appointed to cover these former ministers, will now rejoin their parent police departments, as per the government’s decision.
Some of the former ministers who lost their security detail are R V Deshpande, G T Devegowda, Bandeppa Kashampur, Satish Jarakiholi, D C Thammanna, Krishna Byre Gowda, S R Mahesh, N Mahesh, Jayamala etc.
The security cover for a few high profile leaders such as K J George, D K Shivakumar and H D Revanna, however, will be continued.
The state government has decided to take this step in a bid to reduce the financial burden on the state police.
