Bengaluru: The power supply companies BESCOM, BBMP and KPTCL decided to remove electricity connections of 114 under construction buildings in Bengaluru which were drawing power illegally. The power supply companies of the state decided on this after conducting a survey.

These buildings drew power from high tension wires through transformers illegally. The power supply companies decided to act after seven people were electrocuted in four months in Bengaluru. After a 21 year old man was electrocuted last month a meeting was held regarding identifying illegal power connections on May 29.

It was also decided to lay the electric cables underground by the BESCOM.

To prevent the incidents of electrocutions, a meeting of the Electricity Regulatory Authority will be convened on June 3 to implement preventive measures into to action.

The state power supply companies have a helpline number 1912 to which people can call for any queries and concerns regarding electricity poles.
