Two-year-old girl dies of H1N1 in Bagalkot

Bagalkot: Deepa Madar, a two-year-old girl from Hoovinahalli village of Hungund taluk, Bagalkot district, died of H1N1.

According to district health officer Dr B D Kittur, the child was admitted to a private hospital in Bagalkot city and died on February 17.

A team of doctors visited Hoovinahalli and educated the residents about the spread of swine flu. As many as 20 people are suspected to be suffering from H1N1 in the district and their swab samples have been sent for tests. Among them, six have tested positive.

Tamiflu tablets have been supplied to all the 48 primary health centres in the district and all precautionary measures have been taken to contain the spread of the disease, Dr Kittur said.
