Bagalkot: The minimum temperature has dipped to 8 degrees on Monday night in Vijayapur and Bagalkot districts.
The minimum temperature in both districts has been ranging from eight to nine degrees over the last four to five days.
The minimum temperature recorded in Vijayapura on December 20 and 21 was 8.4 degree centigrade and 9.2 degree centigrade respectively. From December 22 to 24, the district recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degree centigrade. It will be the same for two-three days, informed an official of Hitnalli Regional Agriculture Research Centre.
Children and senior citizens are the worst victims of the changing weather and people are scared of venturing outside in the evening because of the cold weather. Those who have asthma suffer most, said one of the locals.
According the doctors this kind of chill may cause health issues among children, elders and those who have been suffering from nutrition deficiency. Those should not come outside the house, said District Surgeon Dr. Mahendra Kapase.
Heart attack, cracks in hands and heals, knee pain, face pain, muscle pains, problems regarding urine, epilepsy, asthma, cold, cough, allergy and other problems may bother us more, doctors warn.
According to the officials of Hitnalli Regional Agriculture Research Centre, “In North India, during winter, cold waves blow from west to east. When they change their direction and blow towards east through south central India, the chill increases.”
