Bagalkot: Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) founder member Padmanabha Prasannakumar, who had earlier made claims of a marital relationship between BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje has now alleged that he faces a threat to his life from Karandlaje.
Rekindling the controversy stoked by him back in January 2016, Prassanakumar on Saturday while speaking to media persons claimed to be in possession of video evidence of the secret low-profile marriage ceremony of the two at a Kerala temple, and that he would release the CD if the chief minister assures him of his safety.
“I am not releasing the CD just yet because Shobha has threatened me with dire consequences,” said Prasannakumar adding that he had no grudges against Yeddyurappa since it was Shobha who misguided Yeddyurappa to quit the KJP and rejoin the BJP, thereby destroying his political career. He further claimed that the KJP could have come to power this time round had Yeddyurappa stayed with the party.
The KJP was founded in December 2012 after BS Yeddyurappa, along with several leaders from the BJP, including Shobha, walked out of the party.
The party, which diluted BJP’s vote share in the subsequent elections, soon joined the BJP less than a year after it was formed, causing friction between Kumar and Yeddyurappa.
