Bagalkot: The National Security Guard (NSG) is all set to welcome four Mudhol Hound breed into their dog squad.

The dog breed is already a part of the Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Speaking to the media, Director of the Mudhol Hounds’ Research and Information Centre Dr Mahesh Dodmani said that as there was a great demand for four puppies of this breed, senior NSG officers are expected to arrive in the district and take the puppies. He also said that there were already 45 puppies with the Centre.

It can be recalled that last year the Parliamentary panel had suggested having such dog breeds inducted in security forces. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs had also opined that such canines played a crucial role in the forces.

It can be noted that NSG, who are referred to as ‘Black Cats’ handle VIP and VVIP security, especially as security personnel to the President of India, Prime Minister of India and other top portfolios.
