Bagalkot: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finalised its tactics to defeat Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Badami Constituency of Bagalkot district by fielding Valmiki community leader Sriramulu against him. Accordingly, Sriramulu filed his nomination papers on April 24.
After performing worship at Banashankari temple here on Tuesday, Sriramulu filed his nomination papers as per the direction of party seniors. State President B S Yeddyurappa, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar and BJP State In-charge Muralidhar Rao were present along with him.
Sriramulu has filed his nomination papers from Molakalmooru as a BJP candidate already and now, the party has decided to field him against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Badami.
Earlier, the chief minister had defended his decision to contest from Chamundeshwari Constituency. However, internal surveys showed that it will be a tough battle in Chamundeshwari as his rival G T Devegowda is also well prepared. At the last minute, CM Siddaramaiah confirmed his contest from Badami and filed his nomination today afternoon.
