Bagalkot: A BJP leader who was arrested on September 18 died in the police custody on Wednesday, September 25.
Mukkappa Makanna is the deceased. He was arrested along with 10 other persons, for creating chaos during Primary Agricultural Co-operative Society elections.
He was sent to district jail by the court. On September 23, he suffered severe pain in his head and was immediately admitted to District hospital. He was later admitted to Kumareshwara Hospital for further treatment.
Mukkappa's condition was very bad as there was internal bleeding in the brain and he was not responding to the treatment, as a result he breathed his last on September 26, said sources.
Due to Mukkappa's death tense situation has been created in Hunagunda village, therefore additional police force has been assigned to control the situation.
