Bagalkote: Thousands of youth aspiring to join the Indian Army were forced to seek shelter by the roadside here due to lack of proper facilities to accommodate them.

A three-day army recruitment rally being organised here at Navanagar District Stadium, Bagalkote has attracted several youths from various districts, including Vijayapur, Bagalkot, Gadag, Koppal and Raichur.

However, with the army afficials locking the main entrance to the stadium, entry to which is permitted only at the time of the tests the youths had no option but to make themselves feel at home on the streets. These people could be found either sitting and sleeping under trees, on the pavement or outside the shops here.

The incident, has once again sparked debate on the department’s negligence in not making temporary stay arrangements for those wishing to serve our nation.

Notably, several such instances have been reported from several parts of the country in the past too.
