Kolar: The Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar has said that the construction of Yaragol Dam would be completed by December 2019 and inaugurated on January 1, 2020.

Ramesh Kumar was on an inspection of the dam along with MLA Srinivas Gowda and MPs, here on Tuesday, June 11.

Addressing the media, he said that he was deeply saddened by the way the construction was going on in the year 2016 and expressed happiness that it had paced up now.

“The dam has a capacity of holding 8 TMC of water”, he said.

Expressing his confidence over adequate supply of water to the district in the coming days, Ramesh Kumar said, “By the end of this year, the district will see an inflow of 480 MLD water. Yes, there were hurdles during the K C Valley project. But then, we have resolved the issue.”

The Yaragol Dam is said to supply an adequate amount of drinking water to 45 villages.

He also said that the silt deposited under the lakes through which the K C Valley water flows, would be removed soon under the state government’s ‘Kere Sanjeevini’ scheme.
