Kolar: Braving heavy rains, Congress’ KGF MLA, Roopa Sashidhar staged a solo demonstrated in front of the district administration’s office to demand the continuation of the widening works of the Ashoknagar road.
The Ashoknagar road works have been getting delayed and people are facing problems due to this, the MLA said.
She expressed her suspicion that “hidden” people are pressurising the PWD department officers and district administration, who, according to her, have now neglected the woes of the common people.
MLA Roopa’s silent protest will continue until both the PWD department and district administration continue the road widening on a priority basis.
This is not the first time that MLA Roopa Sashidhar has gone on such a protest.
Earlier, she staged a similar protest in the pouring rain when, even after eight months after getting a court order to go ahead with the road work, the officials did not start the work.
The MLA protested for around six hours, after which Deputy Commissioner Satyabhama C arrived at the spot.
MLA Roopa took the DC to task, saying that the district administration is not concerned about the people’s issues, and alleged that the road widening work is being stalled intentionally. There was a heated exchange of words for some time.
The Congress MLA withdrew her protest after the DC promised to restart the road work after the monsoons.
