Kolar: Gowramma, mother of deceased IAS officer D K Ravi is contemplating contesting the upcoming assembly elections from Kolar, suggest media reports.
However, it is not yet known if she will stand as an independent candidate or join any of the Opposition parties.
As per the report fans of the upright officer pressurized Gowramma to contest the polls and she has obliged to the same seeking justice for her son D K Ravi, whose death was concluded to be a case of suicide, due to financial and personal issues by the probing agency(CBI) contrary to the allegations that the reality and sand mafia, specifically were instrumental in his death.
Reports even claimed that the officer had faced death threats after he took on realty firm Confident Group, linked to Congress leader SN Narayanaswamy for encroaching upon 75 acres of government land.
Allegations were leveled on the state Congress government and in particular then Home Minister KJ George for having driven the officer to take the extreme step.
It may be recalled that the officer was found hanging at his Bengaluru residence in March 2015. Ravi had been transferred to Bengaluru from Kolar in 2014 as as an Additional Commissioner Commercial Tax (Enforcement).
CBI report conclusions however suggested that Ravi was suffering from depression and a failed relationship with a fellow IAS officer proved to be the trigger for his suicide. The report stated that Ravi had also requested to be transferred from Kolar.
