Kolar: On one hand when the protests against the implementation of Yettinahole Project is gaining momentum in Dakshina Kannada district, many leading Kannada cine starts took part in a massive rally in Kolar town demanding implementation of the same project, which proposes to feed water from river Netravathi in Dakshina Kannada to water starved regions of the state like Chikkaballapura and Kolar.
Sandalwood superstars Shivraj Kumar, Yash and Sadhu Kokila were among the many who took part in the protest to show solidarity with the farmers.

Kannada Film chamber was lead by SR Govindu, President of Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce as he joined the rest and reached Kolar in Volvo buses to take part in the protests. They were seen encouraging the protesters to take part in their campaign to get water to the region and recalled their fight for Kalasa-Bhanduri project. All were taken in an open truck and the rally went through the main roads of the town. Hundreds of people joined the rally and were keen to see their favorite stars from close proximity.

Few eyebrows were raised by the presence of Pooja Gandhi and Ragini as they too joined the protest which few felt was more to enhance their declining rating in the film industry than work for the real cause. The protesters were amazed by the fluency in which they spoke in Kannada when they addressed the rally.

With intense opposition to the project from coastal districts and demand for water from water starved districts the issue is getting hotter as days go by.  With no political solution in sight the southern Karnataka seems to be totally divided over the project.
