Kasargod: A woman succumbed to sunstroke in Kasargod on Sunday afternoon.
Shantha (53) wife of Sudhakar from Therankallu, Thayannur village is the victim.
On Sunday afternoon, when Shanta was cutting grass for the cows she felt discomfort and immediately rushed back home, where she collapsed. Though she was rushed to Ennapara hospital, her condition deteriorated, following which she was taken to Kanhangad district hospital. She died here.
Her post mortem report has confirmed that she died of sunstroke.
So far eight people have taken treatment for sunburns from Kasargod district. On Sunday, two children from Naikap near Kumbala too suffered sunstroke. They were admitted to the government hospital for treatment.
In Kerala state so far over 725 people have sustained sunburns.
