Kasargod: Dejected by one more death of a Kasargod natived owing to non-availability of timely medical tretament for non-COVID-19 related health issues, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that patients from Kasargod will be airlited in case of emergencies.

“There has been the issue of Kasaragod patients not being able to pass through the Karnataka border. One more person has died without getting treatment. To ensure such an incident doesn’t happen again, the patients will be taken to hospitals in other Kerala districts. If necessary, we will consider using air transportation,” said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

As per sources, a native of Kasargod named Abdul Salim died on Wednesday, after the family made a failed attempt to take him to a hospital in Mangaluru.

It is said that the Karnataka officials at Talapady checkpost refused to allow them into the state border, despite the fact that Karnataka agreed to open the border at Talapady for non-COVID-19 patients on April 8.

According to reports, a total of 12 persons with non-COVID related ailments have so far lost their lives in Kasaragod due to delay in treatment after lockdown.
